Finally, winter is here!

I love winter and the cold it brings.  It sleeted/snowed during the night and everything looks beautiful.  If I can, I'll grab a picture of it.

Wow, how shameful!

It's been almost a year since I posted something.  Not supriseing, though.  Nothing much happens in my life! We're going to be getting GoogleFiber soon, and it can't be fast enough.  I started with Sunflower Broadband, who was sold to Knology, who was sold to WOW.  With each sale, service got less impressive and costs rose. I'll let you know what I think about GF so if it comes to your town, you can get it if you want.  They seem to be expanding into more cities in the Kansas City Metro area and are going into 2 or 3 other states.
Do you have an iPhone  or an Android powered smartphone?  If so, check out the Viggle app.  You earn points for doing something you're probably already doing--watching television!!

It's really easy--just open the app and tap to check in.  You get points for your regular shows, and if you're lucky, you get bonus points for featured shows, and for taking quizzes about television shows and commercials.  I'm saving up my points for an iPod touch--we'll see if I can last that long!  I did spend some of my points for an Olympics pin (since I got a lot of extra points answering quiz questions).

On to a more important issue--THE NEW SEASON OF DOCTOR WHO STARTS TONIGHT ON BBC AMERICA AT 8:00 CENTRAL TIME!!  I've been looking forward to this for quite some time (the only things almost as exciting would be the new season of Sherlock on PBS or the resurrection of Ianto Jones on Torchwood for a new season)!

New Member of the Family

If it's not one thing, it's another.  Mom's been in the hospital and rehab again.  It was a shorter stay this time, and now we know what to look out for so she doesn't get another UTI and end up in the hospital again.

Baily has his own kitten now--Cara Marie!  She's a cutie and dominates him despite her small size!  She does love to eat, though.  She even ate some Chester's Hot Fries!

Long time, no see

It's been a while since I updated my LJ Journal.  Life, for the most part, goes on.  Unfortunately, Shelby's kidney disease advanced quickly in the first part of the year, and we lost her at the age of 18.  Bailey and I continue to mourn her loss, and we are going to get Bay a kitten of his own later this year.

I'm Baaaaack--I hope

Hey, all!  It's been a wild ride for the last 4 months or so.  My mom went back into the hospital!  She went into respiratory distress on her way there in an ambulance and got diverted to the hospital closest to us.  After time on a ventilator, dialysis machine, and various other machines (1 month), she went to a rehab center to get her strength and back and start walking again (2 months)!!  She got home, started home health and learned she needed a pacemaker!!  Oy vey!  She just got released from home health yesterday (included visits from a nurse, occupational therapist, and physical therapist--all for 1 month).  It's kind of like house arrest--she wasn't allowed out of the house except for doctor visits.

We're resting today, and hopefully, I can get her out of the house sometime tomorrow!

We Survived the Blizzard of 2011

Yep, that's right!  We got through the snow storm with no damage to anything.  Actually, it wasn't too bad in Kansas City; we were able to drive out of the neighborhood on Wednesday.  I helped our neighbor across the street since her usual snow shoveler, her son, broke his hand.  The snow had drifted to 2 feet or more in some places, so I didn't feel too bad about missing exercise that day.  Bailey, of course, had to go out to roll around in the snow.  What a total nutcase he is.  The snow in the front of the house (the south side) is pretty deep, so he's been having some trouble getting around out there.

New Year, New Snow

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!  We had real snow last Sunday and Monday!!  6 to 8 inches are out there now, and we're supposed to get some more (minor accumulations to a dusting) coming up over the weekend and MLK!  Can't wait--it's been wonderfully cold out side!

Started a new exercise routine with the place Mom did her Cardiac Rehab; it's better for me to have to be somewhere at a set time as opposed to trying to do it on my own.  Also, this place is in a hospital and has people trained in cardiac rehab instead of someone off the street with just a little bit of training!  I'm so happy to do this!

Hope your New Year started with a bang and that the months that come are good ones for you!

Cheers, kampai, nostrovya, etc, everyone!

It's the First Snow of the Year!!

Yay!!  It's snowing outside.  Not a whole lot, just a dusting, but it's so great for the heat of summer to be gone!  It's 14 degrees Fahrenheit outside right now with winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour.  Lots of people haven't been looking forward to the winter (my Mom and Sister are two of them!), but I love it.

Not too much else going on in my life right now--Mom's about to finish Cardiac Rehab--then I'll be getting her to the opthamologist to get her cataracts done!

We had a little kitten stay with us over the Thanksgiving holiday.  She belongs to the boys who live across the street.  Bailey took an immediate shine to her and kept trying to hold her down to give her a bath!  When she went home, he cried.  We may have to get him a kitten of his own to mother and play with.  Shelby is just so tired so much of the time!!

Have a good holiday and stay safe!!

The Cold Weather Approaches--Huzzah!!

Yay, winter is approaching, and I'm happier than a bug in a rug!!  I hate the hot weather.  Fall has been nice--I've been taking Bailey outside (Shelby joins us briefly to eat some grass and sit in the sun), and he's been having a great time chasing the leaves.  I sometimes think he believes they are taunting him!  He spends tons of time in front of the glass front door just watching the leaves go by!!

He was a big hit for Halloween.  I sat on the steps of the stairs, and he waited with me for the trick or treaters.  Almost all of them commented on him and wanted to touch him.  If I'd been smart, I'd have put his halter and leash on him and let him outside.  I was worried that the darkness and the people approaching the house would scare him too badly.
